Kasus pencemaran nama baik putra Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Edhie Baskoro, bergulir terus. Partai Gerindra menyatakan kadernya tak bersalah. Kasus ini mencuat ketika harian Jakarta Globe menulis berita soal dugaan politik uang Edhie Baskoro dalam kampanye Partai Demokrat di Ponorogo, Jawa Timur. Polda Jawa Timur bertindak cepat dengan menetapkan dua kader Gerindra sebagai tersangka dan sempat menetapkan tiga pimpinan media massa yang memuat berita tersebut dengan status serupa.
